closed loop pumping question

i am wondering if 2 barracudas in a 140 is too much flow (9000gph total). i am also wondering if it is nessesary to have atleast 2 intake holes becuase 4500gph suction through a single 1.5" hole (even with some kind of screen) seems like it'll have the potential to suck in weak swimming fish.

thanks

josh

I ran two cudas on my 120....one on the CL and one for return. I'm not sure if your going to use both for a CL, if so you'll need a 1.5" bulkhead for each pump, you can make things a little better by using a 1.5" T inside the tank for each bulkhead.

Personally i think you should have 2 bulkheads for each pump if you are using them both for a cls. Redundancy is a good thing as well as if you screen the bulkhead intakes with something like a low profile spa intake cover(best option IMO), all critters will be able to walk across them without being trapped and you will never make the pumps struggle to get water
