Very nice. Looks healthy and clean. Great coral placement.
Try finding a partially transparent material which allows some light and hang it on the back in some simple fashion, kind of like a curtain rod.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Josh125. The light is for the room, not the tank. In a way, it helps wake up all the inhabitants in the morning.

Mishap. I can actually see on both sides.

Privatejoker64/ feederfish - some corals started as small colonies like the millis. The digis were from frags. I have had most of these corals for three years. Since i've had the 75 gallon. The digis grow like there's no tomorrow.

Drummereef: we have similar interests except for cats, i'm allergic

Craig Lambert; Lights are Aquamedic 3 - DE 250 with 14 K hamilton and 54 watt actinics. Corals love it!

Asaleem 91; the nipping does not kill the corals, just impedes the growth. The Blueface only nips the growth ends and some waste.

ACblinky; The next fish will be a Powder Blue or the Magnificent Foxface.
BTW - have you bought your lighting? I like T5's but it does not have the shimmer that Halides create. You can get Halides for the price of T5's. Good luck with your upgrade...

xtopher - Everywhere, Big Al's, Reefraft, Aquarium Depot etc.

Cheers!!

Josh125: the light from the windows outside also brings light into the room. if i put a cover on the aquarium, the light will no longer shinethrough.

The T5s arrive on Tuesday. I'm actually not too disappointed we chose these over MH as there won't be so much heat to deal with (a major issue in our apartment as it is). Thanks for wishing me luck, I'm going to need it! Barring complications we'll be picking up the tank and stand next week and then heading to Home Depot's plumbing aisle for supplies.

And... good God that hippo is gorgeous. Honestly, that's the first tang I've ever seen that appealed to me (and I've seen loads, used to work at a LFS).

Very nice and unbelievably clean! It makes sense to leave your background open to limited sunshine from the window. Hope your luck holds up with your angels and corals

Hey Nick, Hey Plandy thank you for the nice comments. You people must know, it takes a lot of frustration and hard work (and of course, money!) in this hobby to get to where you wanna be. Some encouragement from fellow reefers helps!

Was looking at your diagram for your new set up on your thread, looks good! I have exactly the same sump configuration. If I had to do it all over again, I will leave enough room for a future good skimmer and have a lower height tank. My sump only leaves me about 5" to work with. During skimmer and pump clean up it's a real pain. Keeping your tank fallow for 6 months is definitely the way to go, keep them dang parasites out of sight!
Especially now that you want a Hippo for your tank! Start small, 2 1/2" max.

Cheers!

wow, very nice!

Personally I like to see through the tank, even with the blinds. It makes the clarity of the water very obvious, also it's nice you can scope out behind the rockwork for whatever reason. (I have a totally clear tank as well). It's not like your house is a disaster and seeing clean woodwork and blinds is ok IMO. Also the natural light can't hurt, may even be of benefit.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliment, and the hints - I was going to go with a 35g, maybe I'll try to find a shallower 36" tank so it's easier to work with. I do like your hippo very much, but don't want one of my own - IMO I won't have enough room to keep such a big, active fish happy.

You have the right attitude of a successful reefer! Very responsible. The Tang Police will love you!

Big Al's do sell breeder tanks that are quite shallow.
Your return pump will suck up all the chaetos if do you plan to keep them in the same compartment.

So what's this tank gonna be? Mixed reef, SPS or dominated?
I'm sure you already have plans for it...

Mike De Leon, I don't see an overflow box. No sump? If so what are you using for the protein skimmer since there is no sump to put it in? Also what happend to the black plastic bracing from the top of your tank that all AGA's have? I have a 125 aga myself and I am contemplating drilling it for overflow box and sump but I really don't want to.

WoW, that is a nice tank and a great improvement.

Curious, where did you get your light setup, what do you have for flow and cane we see some pics of the back of the tank

Hey Kenny/Algundo;

Please take a close look at the full tank shot. On the lh side you will see a white pipe. The tank is drilled on the side, thus leading to a 40 gal sump in the bottom.

SPECS

6' TANK (135 GAL), Eurobrace, no black plastic bracing
Skimmer is an asm G2 with upgraded pump
Return pump is a MAG12
Schuran Piccollo protein skimmer
40 Gal sump with fuge
4 maxi jets hooked up to a red sea wave maker for flow (will need more!)
Ocean light fixtures (Aquamedic).
3 - 250 Watt DE HQI lamps (14 K Hamilton).

Cal 480
KH 12

These are all I have tested for. If there are no white tips on the SPS that means a water change is in order. So far growth has been acceptable.

Kennyboy,
If your 125 AGA does not have water go right ahead and drill it. It's worth not having to check an overflow box with u tubes to see if it's working.
But with water, it's risky.
Good luck with it.....

Thanks again for the comments.

Jiddy: I will try and take a shot from the back...
