What is there to brace????
The only place where it needs support is dead center of the veiwing pane.
The top is the thickest acrylic, the rest is 1/2'
the seams are fine.

Ya gotta remember that most tank mfrs build tanks to hold water, not to hold water within a certain set of parameters (deflection, optical distortion, etc.), and definitely not to allow for the Wavebox, so to one of them - the deflection *is* normal. Hey - it holds water doesn't it? well that's what it's supposed to do. I'm not saying anything about any particular mfr here BTW (so lawyers keep away ) Getting something in writing, esp on a used tank, would be highly improbable and certainly not covering secondary expenses or incidental damage.
I don't see any way to brace it any more as the joints are good and the top isn't cracked. Personally, I'd start looking around, it may hold water, but for a nice display - just isn't good enough IMHO esp if it makes you nervous just looking at it. If they say it's fine - don't worry, ask them what they'd give you for it, *I'd* be curious.

James

clarity has a tendancy to Under-engineer their tanks to stay competative...any tank over 24" made w/.5" acrylic will bow..3/4" is preffered for "No Bow"

trying to restict the bow is the worse thing u can do...tank will pop at the seem...

if a joint is going u can see heavy crazing and white parts in the joint where the panes are seperating and if the tank is not perfectly level the euro brace will crack..

good luck

Thanks everyone for your feedback and guidance. I got back from Vegas last evening and can finally see the tank for myself. It does bow quite a bit like Biodragen described. I think I'll start shopping around for a new tank and maybe use this one for a sump.

Update:

I visited the LFS where this tank was purchased and they were very helpful. Clarity Plus is going to come over to look at the tank next week. The tanks lifetime warranty was voided due to the closed loop not being drilled by them, but hopefully we can work something out on a replacement tank ... 3/4" this time.
