akbuuur: My 58 is an Oceanic rectangle reef ready tank ... not a corner tank. If you still want pics I can send you some.

yoboyjdizz: thanks for the compliments ... I too can't wait to see what this tank turns out like. As soon as I get the rockwork finished and my 58 transferred, I'll post some updated pics.

Your tank looks like same mfg as my new 400(sitting in garage) . Did you get it from Glass Cages , down by Nashville ? Mine is sooo heavy it just sits in garage Till I can figure something out.

My glass cages 180 is so heavy, I can't even imagine moving a 400g. It took four grown men to move my 180g. You're gonna need a forklift!

Awesome pics. Is that purple algae really that color or is it something in the camera? It looks very cool but I have never seen algae quite that color before.

FYI, I have my 180 tank up and running for the most part and I did use a dart with two 1-1/2" drains and it seems to be holding its own quite well. I do use dursos and without them the flow seems to drop off a bit so I could understand your hesitation.

Cuby2k: Yes that purple is pretty close to what you would see if you were here in person. I have never run across coralline this deep of purple before either.

In hind sight I probably would have been fine with the dart, but things have worked out just find with the Little Giant 4MDQX-SC I went with. Between that and the two Tunze stream 6100's the sand bed shows signs of stirring with the current without getting kicked up too bad.

Well I had a moderate tank crash three months ago so most of the livestock in the above pictures are no more. The tank has since recycled and has been very stable for the past two months. I will post some new pics soon.

I like it very much. I have three 250 MH. One is a 14K the other two are 10K. Then I have two 140W VHO actinics. The tank is a nice white with a hint of blue when the MH are on with the actinics, and I get a great deep blue VHO effect when they are on.

Looks great! How do the overflow covers work on the glass cages tanks? Did you have to silicone them in?

Yes. The covers were cut to special fit my overflows, then I just siliconed them in and built some braces out of dowel rods to add a little pressure while they were drying.

I can't teel if you have done this step but, soon after the purchase of our stand I spent $7 on a can (1 Qt) of clear polyurethene for the inside and used it all. I have thanked myself many times the past couple of years for doing so. It wont hurt your hood either-should make the white reflect more. Best $7 I've spent and that's hard to say on a salt setup.

I actually coated the inside of the hood and stand with an all purpose outdoor poly to waterproof and seal both areas. Initially it tinted the white paint of the canopy a faint yellow, but the UV from the MH's have turned it back clear white.
