Blue Chin Triggers?

I am starting up my 90 gallon tank again, and am considering a pair of blue chin triggers.

I have two clowns and a yellow tang in there, with lots of live rock and some assorted leather corals. A coral banded, cleaner shrimp, and tons of snails/crabs/urchins.

I've heard the blue chins are ok in reefs, but wasn't sure.

Looking for some help here.

Any trigger has the potential to snack on or play with snails, crabs and shrimp. Bluethroats are relatively reef safe, but there are no guarantees. I wouldn't put 2 in a 90 though - kinda crowded over the long haul.

i wouldnt put two in there, but these are great triggers. I had one my 220 and was great with all the reef inhabitants

Will they be ok with 1?

For some reason they seem to be paired up at the LFS

Probably b/c a lot of people want them in pairs. I also doubt there is a lot of demand for the females on their own, since the males are more colorful.

I had a male Blue chin for years w/no problems even with small damsels. I never fed him live food which may have helped keep prey-drive down. He was added last & never harassed any inhabitants.....lost my banded shimp though. Kinda like an oreo to me!

I have two females. Never had a problem. They reside with cleaner shrimp, and firefish. They have never bothered any fish, snails, shrimp, etc in my tank.
