id our sick clowns please
We have a pair of Onyx Percs. They are wild caught. We bought them August 5th. They had been in the aquarium store nearly 2 months and looked healthy. We drip acclimated. A few days in we witnessed stringy white poop from the femal and her color was fading. We got her out of the DT and put her in QT. Assuming internal parasites we treated with Metronidazole in the water and in her food. For one day she wouldn't eat. But we did get her eating again. When first put in QT she was staying only at the surface. A day or so in she moved to the bottom and hides behind and in the PVC on the bottom. Her color is totally washed out now but she behaves seemingly normally with the exception she won't come to the surface to eat and she seems little blind in that she sometimes pulls up short of food she is lunging for.
Meanwhile with the male still in the DT, we discover it listing on its side swiming at the surface. We pull him an add him to the QT. He has been in QT for 4 days now, constantly surface swimming staying in the corner. He eats and will even chase sinking food to a point about half way down the 10G QT. Then turns around and gives up. He eats voraciously and has normal coloration. He just surface swims constantly. They are both in the same QT and getting the same treatment. The female improved on the treatment in that she swims around now and eats, but her color is still totally washed out. The male has shown no change. He eats, and his color conitnues to be good but only surface swims kind of on his side partially. Our DT has been and coninues to be tested daily. 0 Amonia, Nitirite, and Nitrate. The QT has a crappy Biowheel filter with the carbon removed so as not to absorb the medicine. We do %50 water change daily. Everything is 0 Please give us some insight. There is no heavy breathing or gulping for air from either of them. They both eat. One surface swims but has normal color. The other swims normally and has totally washed out color. Please help.
