just build one for the mj900. works great.

any thoughts on using it on wavemaker? I have read some say okay, but some say no because of the damage to the prop by the stopper with the frequent on off with the wavemaker.
you answered your own question: )

If you do use a wavemaker, I would stick with the octura props. The polymer that they use for their props is very hard, and so it will withstand the frequent striking of the stopper at startup better than the dumas which are made out of a more 'rubbermaid' like material that Im sure wont wear as well.

A much better option is to hook up this pump to an oscillating powerhead mount. This rotates the pump rather than shutting it on and off. This would result in much less wear and tear all around.

how far across should the stopper go? doing a 1200 mod and a 900 mod, larger shroud for the 1200. I am using 1/8" arcylic rod for the stopper.

thanks

Far enough out to catch the propeller and stop it. An inch sounds like a good starting point.

also, I used a two part epoxy to hold the prop in place on the large shroud mod, this ok? I would assume onces it fully dried its safe in the tank? I tried super glueing it twice and both times it broke free from the hard airline tube.

the epoxy is made by super glue if that helps called araldite or something like that

ok, I just modded the 1200, works great.. love it.. just completed the 900 and its not working so great, if part of the shroud is out of the water so it can suck air it will spin and work, second its completely submerged, it stops and starts making noise, like it does not have the power to spin the prop.. any ideas?

The 2035 is a bit much for some MJ900s you'd have better luck with the 1435.

i like to cut notches in the prop so it gives the glue something more to hold on to. I also use the glue accelerator . very rarely do i have one come free.

i couldn't agree more . i think anyone building these for their first time should stick with the 1435 and then mess with the 2035 later if they are successful .

Uhhh, Maxi-Jet 1000? Anyone seen one of these? Thinking of getting a couple 900s to see if they make the modded pumps run quieter (my 1200 mods hum a bit more than I'd like). Saw 1000s listed in an ebay search. Anyone tried them out?

ostrow, MJ1000 was the precursor to MJ1100 which was the precursor to MJ1200.

So, these are really, really old?

I've never seen them advertised or sold before. Still never seen 1100.

Wonder if the impellers are all the same...

Wow! That video was better than the Vortech video. That'll make a mj stream believer out of anyone.

My MJ1000 just died. I bought it in the early '90s. I had a MJ1100 from around '98, but I somehow misplaced it.

The impellar in the MJ1000 and MJ1100 looks the same as the MJ1200. The only difference I found besides the lower flow, was that the body color was black. Also before Aquarium Systems was bought out by Marineland, the power cord was thicker and stronger on all MJ pumps.
