I'm going to follow this extremely closely. For starters, you have a lot of frags, good experience, and great R. yuma. Keep us informed in detail.

Nice collection. If i could even keep that kind of yuma alive let alone frag it, i would be happy. I am curious to see how this progresses.

I'm really curious too. Pease keep us updated. I'm pretty new, and I teach marine science this year. We have 2 shallow 75 gallon tanks that we are going to try to propogate several types of corals (none of the harder ones....YET!). I plan on have one of the tanks with nothing but shrooms, rics, yuma's and hope they TAKE OVER !

What kind of light are you using? And will you provide dates as you post so we can see how long it takes to fully recover and even, hopefully, reproduce on their own?

good luck! and if it is a flop...let us know what you learn (so we don't screw it up that way too )

i'm using 1 T5 white 20 watts and 1 T5 blue 20watts. i think it's enough for them. Because i have a bad experience with MH. Some of my collections were melted under 250 watts 14kk MH evem they were putted on the bottom.

I posted it yesterday (June, 28th) so we'll see whether it will be successfull (i DO HOPE ) or not, i'll keep posting the result.

Ladyfsu,
You can also use bridal vail that is found in fabric stores and even Walmart. I was able to purchase 3 yards (should last a LONG time) for about $2.

You can make it easier on yourself if this is strictly a propgation tank through education. If you lay a bunch of rubble or crushed coral on top of the substrate, you can just pour them back in and let them attach themselves and then glue the tiny rocks they attach to to larger rocks.

Cool, thx! That's what we'll do...to start

I'd like to get a few larger rocks with 7-10 shrooms on each to give to our marine warehouse here so they keep us supplied with cool critters they get in (in other words, bribe them with our goodies so they give us things like porcelain crabs, tube worms, small sea hares, mantis, etc). Second semester, if a student wants to start their own tank I'll let them take home one or two of their shrooms and a little live sand and rock...and if we actually learn to breed perc's, let them have or buy 1 of those for $5 or something like that. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I really do look forward to seeing how your yuma's do. They sure are pretty

Nice work, did you cut the parental colony by half in small pieces pie style?

looking good! I know most shrooms don't need too much light. What type of lighting are you using? and filtration?

you could also get hair nets a wal-mart, 2 for a $1.00. thay are thinner and will let more light in than the net you are using.

Very cool. I like the variety you are starting with and willing to cut I'm looking forward to hearing about the % of survival. I've tried it with a yuma myself and been successful.

FWIW, I just recently went to WalMart and purchased some netting in the fabric section. One yard was $0.57 (US) and it was doubled over.

When you are cutting these are you pulling them completely off the rockwork before cutting?
