That should work fine but if you are going this route I would go with 3 of them... 2 900s to alternate and do like you said... and one 600 or 900 in the middle to keep some constant flow going...

Closed loops are nice but not so nice if the tank isn't drilled

I can comment on the Aquatic Concepts ideas going around seeing as I used to work there. We sell the saltwater below 1.023 because most people aren't avid reefkeepers such as ourselves. Most of them allow their water to evap and such driving the SG up. If we sold 1.023 or 1.025, think what it'd be at when they used it!

If you do want a certain SG, just ask and most of the staff will be happy to accomadate. As far as poor customer service, I'm not there anymore so I have no idea about that.

I have 2 seio 620s in my 55, both in the middle pointing towards the ends of the tank. I think I will be getting 2 maxi 1200's tho and putting them there, the the seios on the ends.

Ill be looking for coral real soon. I lost my fish due to my crap locl pet store. so my next step is coral, then back to fish.

Where do you live?

I went to Aquatica in Garner for the first time this weekend. Very nice store!

Chad,
You know I wasn't talking about you when I said aquatic concepts had poor customer service. That's my point you and Dan don't work there.

Question for everybody:

Why isn't the North Carolina Coral Frag Trade Group forum used?

It seems like that would be a good place for these types of discussions instead of having to have one jumbo thread.

Yeah, I hate you guys so much, that I scheduled my water changes around your work schedules so that I could go and buy water from the store only when one of you were working

Not sure how much Chad charges for liverock at reefscience, but I've seen it in person and it looks amazing. It's funny, Aquatic Concepts in Durham sells liverock but uses the rock from reefscience in their display tanks. That should tell you something. Plus I think the liverock at Aquatic Concepts is like 7.99 to 8.99/ Lb.

Reef science has some nice rock... last time I looked if you pick it up it was like $3-5 / lb depending on what you pick out... Nice rock though...

Chad has the best live rock I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a bit. I went down to his place a couple weeks ago to pick some up. It was $6.25/lb which isnt bad at all. Most rock around the Triangle gos for $7-9 and it looks pretty crappy. Chad's rock was covered in zoa's, mushrooms, and just teeming with life. Nice guy too. HTH

Neal at Aquatica in Garner orders 50# boxes of premium fiji and sells them for $150. He says he orders every couple of months.

I bought one last weekend and am curing it now.

That is good to know. I really need to stop by his place sometime soon as I have heard such good things about it. At $3/lb, I don't mind curing the rock myself.

Does anyone in the Triangle area carry ESV B-Ionic? It seems impossible to find. I seem to remember Fish World carrying it at their old store, but I didnt see it at their new store. Thanks for any help.

Finally got my 37g setup and cycling and now I need to stock the fuge.

I'm looking for some chaeto (brillo-pad) macroalgae. I need at least a baseball to softball sized piece and if has pods living in it then all the better.

I'd prefer free (of course ) but would pay up to $10 for a good sized-piece with lots of pods in it. I'd also buy anything else good for a cycling tank such as live sand, LR rubble, cleanup crew, etc.

I'd like to pick it up this weekend if possible but could wait until next week/weekend if needed. Please PM!

Thanks!

NEED MORE INFO

If I'm understanding correctly you'll are talking about a place for us who are in N.C to have a place to chat and share info if so please help me out and send me any and all info I need to join in. I'm in greensboro and would like to know any other reefers in the neigborhood. I've thought of trying to get some people here in town to maybe set up a frag table that we could all trade and add to as a comunity tank that we could all benifit from. If there's any interest let me know. Dave E.
