Anyone running a Maxi-Stream on a wavemaker?

I was thinking of running 4 MaxiStreams on a wavemaker and wanted to know if anyone has fixed the propeller glitches and is running one on a wave maker. If not what do you think would happen if I did run them on a wave maker ... I figure I will just have to change out a damaged propeller every 4 months or so.

What propeller glitches did you have in mind? If you have a stopper built in, then the propeller should be able to correct the reverse spinning. The one thing that I have heard people complained about is that they don't like the chatter startup noise it makes when the wave makeer changes.

I never finished reading the maxi mod threads but I remeber people saying that it couldnt be run on a wavemaker for some reason that had to do with the propeller stopper and the propeller wearing out realy fast.

Whats the cause of the chatter start up noise?

It chatters because the propeller blade has to hit the stopper to correct itself. I suppose one could come up with a better stopper design that would be quieter but that would be trickier to do.

My maxi-mod runs on a Chauvet dj timer, changes every 5 minutes, no problems after a couple of months.

Why don't you save yourself a buck or 2 and get a Chauvet? IT works just as well if not better and is cheaper.

Personnally I think this would be a better option instead of a timer. SwirlerStien This creates a much better random flow than a pulse wave maker.
If you can mod a MJ then this little project would be a piece of cake.

I'm trying to hide my powerheads in my rock work and the swirlerstien is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Ive already made up some DIY Deco Rocks for the MJ900's ... although the swirler stien would provide more flow then trying hide PH's in my rockwork I would rather sacrifice flow then have it sticking out in my tank. Its a all softie tank so flow isnt to important anyways.

There is sometimes a slight chatter on startup, only lasts for a fraction of a second and not very loud.
