yeah they very good plus if the person doesnt like the golf tee i just break it cause i just use superglue and the frag comes off easy and leaves any encrusted parts which grows into another frag
plus they very cheap costs me 2 bucks for 12 which comes around 16 cents but i can get cheaper if i can find those 50 packs but they were out of stock

I have been reading the forums for a couple years now and haven't really posted much. So I finally got around to getting some decent pictures of my prop tank and figured I would share with you guys and keep the thread alive. Very small compared to many of your setups, but it is only for growing out frags for trades and to quarantine new specimens.

10g prop tank
175w Blueline 14k
CSS 65 skimmer
phosban reactor w/ phosban
20g rubbermaid refugium
Hagen 802 return
Hagen 502 pulling water through the rack
Seio 620

Contents: Pair of Ocellaris clowns and many SPS frags

Enjoy!

I've had mine for a few months, and just the other day had to take out all of the sand in my tank. It sprung a leak in the bulkhead so all the water had to be drained, so I might as well of taken out the sand and made it into a BB frag tank. I made everything. The tank I put together with lexan and I built the stand for it. The sump is a 40 gallon breeder tank with baffles with a large refugium. I just set it up a few days ago.

tank 36X25X12
sump 40gal breeder with fuge
mag 9.5 return
maxijets
10000K hamilton MH bulb on an 250W ARO ballast, a 20000K MH on an icecap 250W ballast, and 2 VHO bulbs in a PFO hood
Aqua-c skimmer

I am also considering making a 20L prop tank.
kpk, are you planning on plumbing it into your main system or separate?

It will be seperate. If I had room to put it next to my tank (and my woman would let me) I would. Plus it will be at my dads house where I am living for the summer...

Kyle

Plump it into your tank. Would be easier to maintain IMO

Yeah, I'm probably going to end up plumbing it into my main display. The only problem is space and tidiness because this is in my bedroom.

I hope this doesn't annoy anyone, but is anyone using T5 lighting on their prop/frag tank? I remember going through most if not all these pages, and I can't recall one with T5 lighting.
If so, do you get good growth? What bulbs, how close, etc...
thanks!

Will it be for sps or just zoos etc?

I am running 2x65w pcs on mine, until I get back home after the summer. I know the lights won't be that great, but...

Kyle

Nope, not really any major heat issues. I run a small 3in fan on the left side, if you look closely in pic 3 you can just barely see it. I also run a Lasko task fan over the refugium on really hot days.

How many of you with systems in your basement with open top tanks or tubs have humidity problems?
My system was just over 80 gal all together with all open top tanks and i had a big problem with humidity in my basement. What have you done to help prevent this..other then covering all tanks

I built a fish room, installed a bathroom exhaust fan and blow the fish room air outside. Evap is a bit faster then normal, but it sure beats the humidity! I have about 300 gals down there. thinking about adding another fan or just replacing the exisitng one with something more powerful. I havent decided how to configure it yet. I will either set it to come one every hour for 10 minutes or just come on when the lights are on. Currently its on 24/7

Here's my new frag tank in the works. A friend of mine and a owner or heartland custom aquatics here in Oklahoma built this for me. I haven't even got it from him yet, but thought I would share.

It's 30x24x12.

I will have a single 20k AB Ocean Light over it. For return Will be a blueline pump to two penductors for extra flow. I didn't want to have powerheads etc in the tank and wanted to have it clean behind the tank so...

Anyways here is a pic.
