id this pest ?

hey all

was looking over my stock when i realise my stylo was stn i thought i give it a closer look to find 2 snails on the infected part i was wonder if there such thing as snails that eat sps ? if you can see by the picture the polys of the that frag is there but all the flesh is gone.

Yes, there are snails that are known to get sps.
Mainly I have seen and had experience with them eating pocillopora.
I'll have to see if I have the pieces of the ones I found awhile back, but they looked nothing like those in the pic.

i first through they were abalone at the start well but now i dont know
i love to see some pictures of ones that do eat sps for future ref.
for now they not going bak into the main system or anywhere near sps >>

Looks like a coral eating Nudibranch

It looks like a species of coral eating Nudibranch, keep an eye on them.

looks like eggs on that red part too.. another GD pest?? Im going back to cichlids!!

They are called Drupella cornus, but there may be other species of snails that eat acropora, montipora, pocillopora, etc. I found the pics, but photobucket is down at the moment. Once that is working again I'll upload a pic.

From the image above, they do not appear to be a Drupella Cornus. It is definitely something else. It's difficult to identify from the pics, can you get a seperate shot of the culprit in a container without the stylo?

the one on th left looks like that one in the picture but the other one doesnt look the same. anyway they both gone but i having trouble with hyriods now >> ! thx for the pic steve
