Looking for pictures of bare bottom nanos only...

...lets see them! How has it been working for you? Any issues with a nano being so small. I had a 75 gal. SW BB and loved it. I am looking at a 24 gal. and was wondering if keeping the water balanced is a problem.

Would love to see pics of those nano BB out there! Yes, I did a search... did not come up with much.

My BB 20H has been running from Dec 20, 2005 to presstent. I started with very little LR, about 3 pounds, and I am now in the proccess of using the LR to turn 30 pounds of base rock into LR. I am almost done with that, and I think I should be ready for coral by mid Febuary, even sooner for fish.

I am running a 10g Sump wich holds roughly 5-7 gallons when the pump is on, and I have an AquaC Remora w/ MJ1200 in the sump which runs 24/7. I also run a small bag of carbon 24/7 to help polish the water clarity.

I just tested my params, and I have 0 for the Nitrates, Nitrites, and Ammonia.

Here's my most up-to-date picture.

I realy like havein the BB, it allows for me to have alot of flow for my future SPS. I have a turn over rate of about 95x. Another good thing about BB is that I can easily suck out ditris.

BB and lovin' it. (For a non-SPS tank, I would go with sand though).

They look cool but I like some kind of sand or other substrate more.

It's not all about looks, it's about haveing no nutrience in the water for bad algaes to feed on. So that's why I would suggest using a BB tank for anything but SPS and the larger, over 3", clams.

does a 40g count as a nano?

pic taken in Dec. I've since moved most LPS and zoas to a smaller tank as well as having a new rockscape.

This is just an upgrade from my 10gal so the rock is old. This system is a fem months old and pretty much unstocked. My old tanks were BB, and it is what i prefer, but i mostly keep sps, it would be different if I wanted a mixed reef. Also if you go BB I highly recommend using HDPE or starboard for the bottom, looks 100x better.

My barebottem

It is actually sand mixxed with epoxy so it still has the sand look but is rock solid.

I am very happy with it so far, the only thing I would do differnetly next time, is i will not do the extra epoxy on top of the sand. It made for a nice level surface but you can see a few bubbles if you look closely. That stuf fon the bottom right is detritus and rock dust from the live rock. I suck all that crap out every water change.

I have also notice greater growth in my corals since goin barebottom
