Dying Montipora

Hi everyone,

Does anyone here has an idea what disease is this:

Too small to see. I have periodic loss of basal tissue in M. digitata and simply fragmenting seems to do the trick. Remove the affected areas from the tank.

Looks like a brown jelly infection. siphon off the gelatinous mass without moving the coral. After siphoning off as much as possible, remove the coral to a separate container and fragment 1" away from any affected areas, or scrub the affected areas clean and scrub slightly into the healthy tissue surrounding it. After the work is done a lugol's dip would be therapeutic, and return to the tank.

Also look for what may have set off the infection. Nearby corals, inappropriate water flow, poor water parameters, etc.

ahhh... yes, it does look like brown jelly-type material. Advice remains the same, bt be careful not to spread that material around when removing it from the tank. If more branches show similar signs, repost, and we can take it from there.
