Can you put live rock in Ehiem mechanical filter
Just wondering, I run it 24/7 with carbon in it. I cleaned it today and took the media out. Can I turn this into a type of refuge?

There would be too much flow to consider it a refuge for 'pods I would think. But you can certainly fill it with LR; I've seen lots of folks who say they do that.

No light for chaeto, and AFAIK, Eheim canister filters are all top pumping, so it'd be difficult for your pods to get sucked back into your tank. But you can keep live rock in there for your nitrogenous filtering.

cool...........I like using it, but dont want it to turn into a burden on the tank.

I have a rena filstar, the bottom half is full of live rock rubble, and the top half has polyfilter and chemipure ... it's worked well for the better part of a year, and I have a fair bioload crammed in there lol.
There's not any pods I can see in there, but there are a fair number of small sponges and the tiny spirally fanworms. Once a month or so, I swoosh the rubble around in the water that's in the canister filter and dump that water out, just to get rid of any grunge that accumulates... |

I think pods might grow in the LR. I have seen them crawling through a coarse filter pad I sometimes run.
