Fragging Kenya Tree...

What is the best way to frag off my kenya tree. It has one big stalk coming off a rock and then then two smaller ones next to it.
Any help???

I have used 2 methods for fragging them. One is the constriction method where I tie off a branch with some string. Eventually it drops off with both the branch and parent sealed. Never had an issue with that method. But it does take about a week for the branch to drop off.

The other is to cut the branch off with a sharp blade. This method works most times. On a rare occasion the parent might react badly and take a while to heal.

Either method works, just depends on what you are more comfortable with.

I use sharp scissors to cut the branch I want and then use nylon thread and a needle to tie it around the rock I want it on. Set it out of strong current and in a week or two you are good to go.

I never worry about "hurting" most soft corals. They react badly at first but should bounce back in a day or two.

I've usually do alot of frags at once and have them sitting out of water on a paper towel for a long time while waiting their turn. Never did a bit of harm.
