the picture is what the hammer did look like.I dont have a current pic sorry.
all pars are good except nitrates they are 19. They been high like that for several months. The Only thing new is an ecosystem 60 filter/fuge and I added vhos and a canopy.Temp stays around 78.I used to have no t5s on the tank, added some light to the subject.Oh btw my nitrates were at 30 and I now do weekly water changes. Sg is 1.025 The webs are on the front of the hammer and their is now 2 sections of flesh missing. One section is 3" long and the other is 1".The hammer is fairly good size and would hate to lose this one.

thank you
Jarrod

If your nitrates are that high, I definitely want to know the other parameters, including phosphate.

phosphates were off the chart, now they are 0.1
ph is 8.2
cal is 400
alk is 9
the water is better than it was i change 10 gallons per week.
Ill post a pic later of this coral.I have not chacked the nitrates in a week so they are probley lower then 19 now.and with the addition of the fuge.

Maybe it was just a barnacle or spaghetti worm?

Anyway, look for brown jelly and siphon it out as much as you can. Better yet, take the hammer out, use tank water and blast the areas with receeding tissues. Direct some flow over the areas with loose flesh. You will see the polyps extending normally again when the receeding subsides.

If receeding continues, you might want to do an iodine dip on the infected areas or even blast with fresh water. Avoid blasting the healthy parts though.

Well, look out for it. When tissues die, they get infected. Happens quite often with Euphyllias.

I just read that you had already done a FW dip. IME, FW dips are very stressful to some corals. I hope you matched temp and ph prior to dipping and didn't dip too long.

Well, other than improving your water quality as stated, I don't know what else to add.

I also forgot to mention this all started when a mushroom fell on the hammer.Would a small mushroom do all this damage?

i had tubes shooting out webs. still do when ever things get stirred up. found out they were sessial(?) snails. they dont move. they are attached to the rock and really smalll onnes are onthe glass. mine havent hurt anything, but the lfs owner siad he had someting similar on an acro and it was dying where the web was. i think that was diff. from what i have tho.

The mushroom certainly could have caused that. I have had a few corals attack eachother and a stringy mess will normally occur. Keep the water quality good and it will bonce back.

Make sure you suck out all the necrotic tissues and give it lots of flow as mentioned above.
