Will you let in North Texans LOL! We're kind of too far from anyone to particpate in much. Hope to see this club get off to a good start!

Of course! A half hour isn't too bad, though. I was driving between an 1 - 2 hours to get to OKC for meetings.

Hurray!! MUCH closer....

This group in Ardmore should be quite a bit closer for me....also in North Texas. :-) I live in Vernon, about 30 minutes south of Altus OK but highway 70 is right up the road so it takes only 45 minutes to get to Ardmore!

I'm excited to hear about a new group starting up there and would like to join. Is there a membership fee or some such thing?

white_queen - Welcome to the club!

At this point in time, we are not planning on any sort of required membership dues. However, we will take optional membership dues/donations. At this point in time, any such funds would be used to start a club library. For information along that line, check out the library post in the forum.

With a little funds, we could buy some books that would be normally out of the price range of the average reefer (Corals of the World). And others that are not as expensive, but would make a nice addition to the library (Reef Fishes, Book of Coral Propagation, Reef Invertebrates).

I have LOTS of books as I actually began this hobby in college about 4 years ago. When I was forced to break down my tanks becuase of changes in the dorm rules I used the money to invest in some books to at least keep the withdrawl symptoms at bay a little bit. *teasing grin* I will gather my collection and post a library post of my own.

Blessings, Angela <><

I meant before this club nothing close to participate in! Right now it's Dallas or OKC, both big cities too me. Ugghh!! I look forward to participating in this new club.

Welcome to the SOMAS forum, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I am Chris, I live close to Ardmore, I have a 100gal BB Reef tank it has a 40gal sump, 3200gph closed loop, 940 watts of lighting MH and VHO. Mostly filled with frags, as I have recently moved over to SPS, LPS and Zoo's. I spend alot of my spare time working with Acrylic which can be seen in my Gallery.

Carolyn, I can definatly understand how it is with not having a club or organization closer to home. Paul and I have both been driving to OKC for meetings and such.

This is going to be an excellent way to meet and bring together others in our area that enjoy this hobby. We will be working on a logo and small starter web site in the near future, along with membership cards for all registered members. The idea behind the card is for having raffles at meetings and we will be working on trying to get a club discount at local LFS's.

So Welcome to SOMAS and here is to meeting new people that enjoy Reef Aquariums as much as I do!

You know, that is a bit of an interesting coincidence that 2/3 OK Reef clubs are currently presidented by a PAUL.
