What anemone for my new maroon clownfish?
My friend just gave me the cutest little (2.5") gold stripe maroon. I'd like to get him an anemone. Any suggestions? I've read they'll host in Ritteri (H. magnifica), Bubble tip ( E. quadricolor), and Long tenticle (M. doreensis).
He will be in a 70g corner bow with 150 watt halide and 110 watt pcs. thanks --jenny

My gold stripe maroon clown loves her BTA. And BTA's are just about the hardiest as well.

I know and that is a beautiful anemone btw. I have a green tipped one with a true perc and a rose with a pair of pink skunks. Unless I can get a strinkingly colored or white one, I think I want to try something else.
btw, I have family in Allen. --jenny

I just got a beautiful LTA for my little maroon pair~
(not hosting yet, but its only been 3 days, and they're still little guys getting used to the tank since I've had them only a month) Other people have maroons hosting in LTA's~ And if you've been sucessful with BTA's, why not try an LTA! |

I have seen them with BTA, carpet, and sebae. I like the BTA, rose or green but from what I understand thee green looses its color.

Yeah my pair of maroons are hosting a LTA. They loved it right away. One weird thing did that happen though, the LTA had several damaged tentacles and the female ripped them off right away. About ten tentacles total....Is this normal???????????

Yes, this tends to be a usual activity of clownfish, especially more aggressive, territorial species (but all do to some extent). It causes minimal damage to the anemone (in general, damage done to tentacles is minor to begin with).
BTA is the natural host for Maroon clownfish.

My maroon beat up my BTA right as i put it in the tank and ate some tenticles, and was hosting it but is to ruff so the BTA dosent come out anymore and has receded its tenticles...not meaning to hijack, anyone know why its tenicles are receded or is it cause the clown bit all of them off. I believe its cause the anenome was to small for the clown.
