Dose anyone know what happened to t5 actinic bulbs?

I've searched everywhere for blue and actinic and all I can get is aquablue, and that's scarce. I hope the company didn't go belly up cuz I just purchase a tek light, it would suck if I can't get the blue bulbs for it

Anyway if anyone know where I can get one or what happened to the supplier I'll be very apreciated, thank you.

I ordered my T5 retrofit kit back in Feb/March and the actinics were on backorder then....Greg at Reefgeek said they were on backorder since December and even this April when I talked to himl, he didn't sound too positive that he would ever get them in. The Grim Reefer might be able to shed some light. I'm sure he'll find this thread soon.

Let there be light, just not blue or actinic

There was a run on the phosphers a while back is what I was told. The big boys (GE, Osram etc.) are adding more UV to their regular lamps and that takes the same phosphores, that is the story I got anyway.

www.commodityaxis.com sells the Helios strip lights but I am told they also have just plain old HO T5 lamps available too in blue and actinic. You will have to contact them for the price but I know they sell a 80 watt T5 lamp in a unit with the endcaps and a frame for less than 20 bux so a bare lamp should be in that same range I would guess (Unless they figure out they're the only one's with actinic and blues). I have not seen their HO T5's in use but have played with thier NO T5's and they have nice color to them.

I just saw another post where someone got their Blueplus lamps. I don't know if it was just backorders being filled or what. You can try www.reefgeek.com to see if they are in stock or not.

Hey Grim...
So do you think that T5 Actinic will become less scarce once GE, Osram, etc. get all the phsophors that they want? I wanted an Actinic as well from www.ReefGeek.com but had to go with a BluePlus.

I don't know if they just caught the suppiers off guard or there will be an ongoing shortage. I don't know if that is even the reason for positive but this was told to me a month or so ago before I even knew about the lamps being backordered. The guy just expected the lamps using actinic phosphores to increase in price.

I promptly recieved 2 Blue+ and 1 actinic from aqualux about 2 weeks ago. This is the first I heard they're hard to get.

You could always go straight to sunlight supply to see if they have them available.

You sure about that? Remember my nightmare with Aqualux. Those had to come straight from sunlight supply, which might explain why it took me months to get them.

www.specialty-lighting.com also moves ATI T5's and might have them in stock.

inovative lighting had them in stock and about the same pricing as reef geeks, as for the company/owners couldnt say anything negitive about them, they answered the phones, kept me updated, and let me know as soon as they had all my order, which was under a week, I will use them time and time again!

Aquactinics may have the lights that you are looking for in stock.
I just bought some recently, they had Blue+ and pure actinic T5. (I hope I got this right). Here is a link http://www.aquactinics.com/Store/T5_bulbs.htm .
good luck,
L

This is the story I got from Perry at SS. By the way I just got mine after 3 months of waiting. The German manufacturer was not equipped to handle the demand, problem 1. A major shipment was lost somewhere between Germany and Washington about 2 months ago, problem 2. They were counting on that shipment to hold everyone over for a bit so that they could increase their output, when the shipment got lost they were screwed, problem 3. So now it appears the lamps have made it here and are slowly trickling out into the market.

drsfostersmith.com "should" still have their's - at least about a month ago thats where i got mine..

this is disturbing news nonetheless- but it may prompt new companies into the market of manufactering these bulbs- kinda like a window of opportunity? there's obviously lots of demand- and what i would pay for a set of decent t-5 actinic bulbs

For sale:

HO T5 lamps. These lamps are marked "El Lamp de Mexico" but look remarkably like the ATI brand lamps.

For more information contact Captain Ron.
