Call me crazy, but why are we concerned about police snooping around?

Haha that's about right...had some pranksters that broke into my fuse box and switched off all the power last year and since I was working, my wife called the PD and after they found the fuse box and turned the power back on...according to the Mrs., they were not about to come too close to the house after seeing super bright lights coming from the living room window.

Why? That sounds slightly silly...one doesn't use lights to make meth...maybe grow weed...but weed isn't going to blow up your house.

Totlxtc. You should have used phonebooks to hold up your tank.

Ok, I know I can not compare to some of the more elaborate ghettofied setups of my fellow reefers, but I think it's funny nonetheless. I am in the process of setting up my most recent reef and a friend of mine was moving out of state and gave me about 17 individual shrooms. Having nowhere to put them, I had to settle for a hamster tank sitting on my kitchen counter. It's right under a hi-hat for lighting and oxygenation/water movement is courtesy of a $3.00 airpump. All items in the pic were purchased at wal-mart for a total invesment of about $6.00 making this probably the most inexpensive reef setup on RC 8-)~ The substrate is some old aragonite I had sitting around. This picture was taken about 6 weeks after setup.

Oh well, picture won't load so hopefully my description gives you a visual. If I get it to work, I'll post the pic later.

I don't know if this qualifies but a lot of my rock is New York City asphalt that was dumped in the ocean years ago. It is the piece with the coraline algae all over it and the star polyps.

Not ghetto! A skimmer right up front in your display. Just bad placement. Although the boards propping your lights is a bit ghettoesque

I'd say a skimmer right in front in your display is pretty ghetto..

chrismunn - nice tank!!

That custom light rack is so high, you may just as well have attached the lights to the ceiling.

C'mon Saltz. Fire up the skilsaw on a pile of 2 X4's and jump in.
You know you want to.

wouldn't you like to have like 5 10 gal tanks all cascaded for a wicked ghetto prop system or something??

Look how easy that tank of DJ's is to work on.

chrismunn,
god are you asking for it with those boards man. I see a wet floor in your future.

If only i could show you guys my first salt tank....The thing had a 20g refugium at equal level to it. It was plumbed on with a rio 200 in each tank pushing water back and forth with a valve adjusting the speed of each one. Needless to say that didnt take long to make a VERY flooded floor. And i thought the LFS guy knew about hydrodynamics
