why won't my damn maroon leave things alone?
He stirs the sand up, snaps at my bangaii, hates some mushrooms, and definately my pagoda cup coral. The Harlequin Tusk is the only thing in the tank that he won't mess with. And the tusk loves the marron clown for some reason?! Should I just trade him in to the pet store, and get a smaller one, or keep him and hope he stops. Also, If I trade him in, what do you think I should get? I will only have the bangaii, and the tusk left.

I hear all of these horror stories about maroons and their anger/behavior issues. I must be very lucky with my pair of maroons as they are both model citizens. I love my pair. They both spend most of their time in their rose anemone and have never shown any aggression towards other tank mates. My large female maroon does do some house cleaning by fanning sand away from the anemone but that is it. My other fish even hang close by the anemone but my maroons do not care.
Fish list: 2 mated maroon clowns 1 Kole tang 1 six line wrasse 1 Royal gramma 5 blue/green chromis |

Maroons and Tomatos can have bad tempers.

Got rid of my Maroon pair, traded for a True Perc. They were hellions in the truest sense.
I love my T. Perc, he is so aloof doesn't bother a thing. I am now looking to introduce another, if I can just figure out how to do it without problems.

well if it was the first fish in the tank, that explains any excess aggression.. plus maroons are mean SOBs...but i would still keep him, they are awesome...

Yeah they are awesome...But I made the mistake of adding two to my much valued reef tank. If they have their own tank they are great, and probably the most beautiful of clownfish. But menacing little rats otherwise.

and that's how I feel about my maroon. He started the tank, so I want him to finish with it too. But, if it came down to it, I would keep my harlequin in a minute over that clown.

My female moves rocks. Makes a mess out of the sand. Chases my Flameback Angel, attacks my hand, but she is probably the neatest fish in my tank. Amazing personality, and I've watched her grow 2-3 inches in less then a year.
But yeah, if it was really causing problems, I would probably trade mine in too.
