lowering salinity

Can i lower salinity from 1.021 to 1.015 on day 1

then 1.015 to 1.011 on day 2

then on day 3, 1.011 to 1.009

Yes, simply by adding fresh water, but your question is intriguing- are you aiming for brackish water? Why the need for what appears to be a fairly rapid/drastic change?

what are you doing brackish water? if not you gone loose em fish i herd of low salinity but this is ridiculus for a SATWATER tank.

its to treat for ich, is it ok to lower the salinity

1.021 to 1.015 on day 1

then 1.015 to 1.011 on day 2

then on day 3, 1.011 to 1.009

i would slowly lower to your target over the span of at least a week.

do you have corals in the tank you plan on conducting the hypo treatment? if so, they will not react well to the salinity drop.

if you have corals. the best thing to do is to seperate the fish. if you dont have a cleaner in the tank aquire one. a cleaner shrimp or neon blue gobby. they will have a blast treating them dieseas and after they will keep it in check. if you can borrow, buy, or use a uv sterilizer i herd they are reall good at killing parasites/ controlling them. you can lower salinity but that quick is not a reall good idea.
