DIY skimmer

Well my buddy built this for me its a ASM knock off. Should be rated for 350g. It has a sedra 5000 w/ needle wheel. I may add one more sedra to it when i get some more money..

there is no hidden seceret....we just uesed the dimesnions for the asm G-4 its rated for 350 gallons.

we actually built that one 2" bigger then the ASM..

Sorry if you thought I was holding back but I have no plans. Just used acrylic, clear pvc and white pvc. Along with a sedra 5000

Hope this clears up any questions you had....

Footprint : 11.5" x 16" (little bigger then this one)
* Height : 24" ( we went 26")
* Body Diameter : 8.5"
* For up to 350 Gallons tank.

update on skimmer

Ok so I got my tank up and its cycling now finally got to test the diy skimmer....it ran real wet for a few days but just needed to break in...I thought I would have to put an adjustable arm on it but it seems to work just fine now...here are some updated pics.

going to get a lid made for it asap!

Newly set up tank, so I guess its skimming off the fine dust (southdown sand).

Nice job lilbuddy. Did the pump come with a needle wheel or did you make one?

yes guys this is a new tank so its just taking the southdown film now...it ran wet for about a week and I was worried about the design

well i cant take credit for this skimmer a buddy of mine made it for me....Its really simple to make just got to get that kickin butt sedra pump

a buddy of mine made it...he buys all his acrylic local ...not really sure where....I think there are a few online places that sell tubes of acrylic...you can also use pvc or clear pvc...

I have seen a bunch of different places with pipe for sale - but never 8.5" pipe. iF you don't mind ask your buddy if that is 6" pipe.

Now that I think about it, it is 6" and he built it 2" taller then asm..now hes building a big skimmer now for his 525g. I will ask him where he got the materials for that
