great pictures kevin.
how many of you are using a DSB in your prop tank and what are your thoughts now after the fact?
I have also noticed just about everyone using eggcrate to support the frags. I am slowly working on getting a small system together in my basement.there are two tanks. One glass tank 48 x 12 x 12 and one acrylic tank 48 x 24 x 12. each tank will dump into a 100 gallon rubbermaid that i had previously used to cure rock. there is room on the steel rack to hold a third tank 48 x 12 x 12 if I wanted to add it later. I have an amp master pump plumbed from the rubbermaid tub to feed each tank. I have an ice cap 430 to use for the smaller tank, I need to set up a reflector/endcaps. I am not sure what I am going to use for lighting on the acrylic tank.
I attached a picture of what i have so far, any suggestions or comments would be welcome .....

there is room on the other side of the tub for a table to hold the reactor and skimmer.

Tank 2
This tank has had no lighting over it for nearly 2 years and I used one bag of sand Natures ocean added to the aragamax not used Natures ocean in any other tank and I have been going through a hair algae phase in this tank even though none of the other tanks have this algae and its the same water circulating in all the 14 tanks.
the hair algae is nearly over and corals and more frags are being added.

Andrew took these pics.

Thanks Gene.

Kevin has a great set up too its just that he has not been doing it as long as me, nearly 3 years I have been working on this prop system.
But I expect Kevin to have a better system then me in the long term

Here is a link to a past thread by me with pics and info on my prop system there are a few changes and changes going on still I will add the info on that thread at a later date.

Kev
They are great pics m8 Andrew (sparky) has got a brand new cam which likely has a few more features than yours.

I am pleased you have found my advice helpful.

This keeping methods and idea's secret and supplier or contacts secret and not being open about things has never been my style and never will be.
I will give info on everything I know and have learnt and would let any one that wanted too know who my suppliers or contacts for corals was if I had them etc etc.

Talk to you soon mate

Regards
Martyn

I'm spoilt for choice!

Rubbing my hands together, eagerly anticipating up and coming visits to both Martyn's and Kevin's prop systems.

Do you know any good netshops that have Milliput for reasonable price and quantity (in Europe)?

very cool system Martyn! great pictures too
do you need additional flow from power heads in each tank or is the return enough? are you happy with the sand bed in the prop tank?

Hi pacificaquatics

Not sure who you are asking.
If me then first thanks for the compliments and I don't have a dig cam and it is Kevin Ling and Andrew that have been taking pics for me.
I can get Andrew to take pics of other things when he visits next.

Some Info on the system is supplied in the link in one of the posts I posted above but add the link again.

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=149875

And Kevin has explained the mounting discs I thought of and use.

Regards
Martyn

Hi Geo.
Thanks the pics are by Kevin and Andrew.
Yes I use extra pumps in each tank I add the pumps when I bring more tank on line with starting the lighting.
Maxijets are ideal for my tanks and 5 to 7 in each 6ft tank is ideal.
I do have a load of aquabees 2000 and 3000 that I am using and preparing to add too tanks but they are bulky and not always reliable.

The 1" to 2" sand beds in all top and middle row tanks works great I add a few mm depth of 2mm to 4mm sand grains on top of the fine sand to prevent a build up of fine sand on top of the discs caused by worms piling up sand.

There is a high diversity of infauna in the sand beds this increases the diversity and amount of natural plankton in the system and of course feeds the corals.

Also I add flat live rock along the back and ends of the tanks this increases plankton diversity too and along with the sand this seem to give a good balance to each tank and keeps maintance and algae's etc etc down.

Regards
Martyn
