Best Sump Return Pump?

Which retun pump has the most bang for the buck?

I need to get a return pump for my 75 gallon RR AGA. It flows max 600 gph and I have a 30 gallon sump setup like this:

Tank Overflow>Skimmer>Return>Refugium

The overflow will go to a ball valve that will send 75% of the water to the skimmer and 25% to the fuge.

I was considering a MAG 7. Does anyone know of a better pump for my situation? I will not spend more than $100.

Ocean Runner 2500. 625 gph at 38 watts or you can do the Mag 7 which is 70 Watts. Think about it...that is a 70 watt heater that is constantly on. Mag's are great for ponds but IMHO they downright blow for aquariums. The Ocean Runner will do perfectly on your system.

I think Mag over rates their pumps and require a 1-1/4" pipe to get that 700 gph. I only use my Mag 7 for mixing salt and have removed every Mag pump from my system.

I like the Reeflo pumps, go to their website to find the one that works for you.

Does that model of OceanRunner take US fittings? I know my 6500 doesn't.

No but mine came with a barb fitting and it worked very well. I am ok with barb fittings on a 635 gph pump but would not be with a 1700 gph pump. lol

I've used a mag 7 as my return pump since 1995, no problems here. I may look into an Ocean Runner though.

The biggest drawback to a Mag is the power consumption and heat that consumption is converted into.
