Take out those bio-wheels ASAP. All they will do is cultivate Nitrates. How come you didn't go with one big one?

nice setup man!i really like the aquascaping you've pulled of!wish mine looked as good...
the unidentified object you mention is the base of a polyp colony.i think they are called xenia.i have them in my tank and if they survive they look rather good!need medium/strong direct flow though to flourish

Agreed on the aiptasia...although, it's hard to tell from that pic.
And why is it that everybody and their brother gets coral hitchhikers on their LR...except me?

reefman to answer your Q: my fish store was going out of business and so i bought pretty much everything they had left i got the Tank, light, single 150gpm power filter, and stand all for 300 bucks couldnt pass it up. I was tempted to just stick with 1 and do a seperate pump ie maxi jet but decided i liked the look of these and a different LFS made me a hell of a deal. ive total of 300gph flow. I was a little worried at first but i feel its plenty now that i have things in the tank.

Nice setup plenty of room to clean the glass.
IMO those are button polyps and the purple matting with the "goosebumps" are Green star polyps>

And now that I take a second look, I'm not so sure...may be xenia or anthelia...or maybe some sort of sponge, but the more I look at it, the less I think its aiptasia.

I'm impressed with the piece of rock on the bottom in front. COMPLETELY covered with a super hue of coralline.

tests as of 1/04/08 Ca>480ppm, I'm bringing it down dKH=9, ok PO4=0ppm, ideal 1/06/08 after a water change Ca= 480ppm, still a little high pH= 8.2, I'd like it at 8.3 NO3= 10ppm, acceptable |

R_Hudson, I do have one recommendation for your tank. correct me if i am wrong .It looks like the only circulation of water you have is from the two HOB power filters.
You might need 1 or 2 power heads in the tank to avoid deadspots and excess algae growth. It is good idea to have your water circulation between 10 X to 20 X per hour. I prefer 20x. How much water do your filters pump per hour?

Kingfisher those are 2 power filters rated at 150 gph each so thats 300gph total on a 30 gal tank. I think i have plenty of flow I may end up putting a small maxi jet or hydor koralia. but for now i feel i have enough. thanks for all the comments my unidintified object has moved a little tomorrow i will try to get a better pic of it.

Thats all good. But the bio-wheels are NOT good. They WILL create, and harbour nitrates like crazy.

i guess it really depends what you plan on keeping in there....over time your pumps will slow as the filters build up so your 10X is going to be more like 7X...
if you gonna keep coral remember they dont have lungs to draw in air so to speak...and they cant move...your 250gph at best probably isnt even enough to keep sea horses...my twenty gallon tank has about 1400gph through it and i still have dead spots/ detritus traps...(stupid rock walls) most coral require flow to sluff, shed, eat, fight, poop, breath, etc...not enough flow will equal lots of dead corals..or at best, very unhappy ones... the rocks look awesome....i love the cubes...
