Too Much Flow
Hello All,
I posted this earlier today but I thought I would post it again with more information. Last post two people said it was fine and the others said it was too much. I have a 55G tank that I am setting up to be a reef tank. My buddy gave me a Koralia 4 and Tunze 6045 which are on a wavemaker so only one runs at a time. I have them each placed in a corner of the tank. I would like to have softies and LPS when the tank is ready. Is this too much flow for my tank? I have read articles and lots of flow is good thing but I thought I would ask you all your opinion. Thank you for taking the time. |

Does seem a bit much, esp. if you're keeping LPS with long sweepers. Also, Koralias are not recommended to run on wavemakers.

Do you recommend just leaving the Tunze on all of the time or should I purchase two smaller items? If so what would you recommed(GPH). Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure how much flow the Tunze puts out, but I'm running 2 #2 Koralias in a 29 continuously, so I think running your #4 that way is no problem. If the Tunze is putting out more than the #4 you might consider getting something smaller. My $0.02. Wait for further input, esp. from those who know the 6045.

The 6045 is probably more than enough flow for a 55 with mostly soft/lps corals. It is also not recommended to run on a wavemaker...you will void the warantee.
