Skimmer and filter sock?

Hello,

I was wondering if the use of a filter sock will effect the performance of a skimmer? My drain line drains into a filter sock which is right next to the skimmer. I use it mainly to control micro bubbles.

Some of the substances that are skimmed out by the skimmer may be trapped by the filter sock so it could reduce skimmate production some. That is the reply I got when I asked this Q a while ago. I have run with and without filter socks and the difference for me was pretty small in terms of the amount of skimmate. But if it does reduce skimmate production a little bit it is still being removed from the tank when the socks are replaced. So, as long as the filter sock is replaced regularly they shouldnt be a problem. I change mine out atleast 2X per week.
