24hr refugium lighting?

I have my refugium light on 24 hours a day. Will this harm anything? I did this initially so that the ph stays steady when the main lights go off, because when I had the reverse photoperiod for the refugium the ph seemed to dip a little lower then I would like.

No you won't hurt anything it's fine. Many people leave them on 24/7.

But it is not good for Cheatomorpha. It all just depends on what you keep in the fuge and what your goals are.

Why is in not good for cheato? I have cheato in my sump and have a 100w shop bulb that runs 24/7 and it doubles in size in a week

You may find that a normal photoperiod will achieve the same growth (or better). In any case, I don't have a reference for my answer... it came form a similar discussion in the advanced forum some time ago.

cheato grows fast enough how it is, I just run mine on a reverse lighting schedule to the display lights. Most people seem to either do this or keep it on 24/7.

So do cheato really do no good on 24/7 lighting? I have been running mines for 247 also. It seems to be doing ok?

Anyone input on this?

Hmmm well since it seems as though it goes through the same growth with reverse lighting periods I may start doing that
