Question witch light fixtur for 29 gallon

I want to start a 29 gallon nano but dont know what light fixture would be the most benifical. Would the MH get to warm and would i need a chiler becuse of it. Would the t5 be enought light to keep whatever i'd like. Here are my choices.

1. "Coralife aqualight pro" 150watt MH, 2 65watt pc, 2 moonlights.

2. "Nova extreme" 4 24watt T5, 2 moonlights.

Does your 29 have a center brace?? The MH directly above the brace is not good. You could melt it and you will have a big shadow. A single MH will not cover a 30" tank very well, the areas at the end will be dimmer. I would try the T5. R

29's don't come with a brace..unless its a custom tank :|

I would say MH, it gives a nice glittering water shine to your rocks and you can pretty much keep whatever you like. I use the generic version of the aqualight pro, its great and about 8" from my tank, but i still need to top it off every day or other. But the downside to the Aqualight Pro is that the PC's i heard dont penetrade very far, and T5's can go waay down...So the Nova is a great light, and it gives off less heat.

I honestly suggest you get a MH retrofit kit, and T5 retrofit kit, get a nice VHO ballast or a basic icecap ballast, and make your own hood/fixture. Its custom to your needs, and you can adjust it how you like!

Plus with DIY work, you can take more pride in your tank

Do they make an Aqualight Pro in a 30" length for 29 gallon tanks? Or were you going to hang the 24" model over the tank?

I think so. The generic i got has the same sized aqualight makes. I have the 24" on my 29, same as the 30" but shorter. They come in 24, 30, 36, 48, and 72".

Well it should come with legs, i set the up so they sit on my hood...here.

Thats Eggcrate on the hood I built:
