24 Gallon Aquapod or 29 Gallon BioCube - Whattya Think?

I'm looking at getting either the 24 Gallon Aquapod (150w HQI) or 29 Gallon BioCube (PC Lighting). I'm trying to figure out which one to get.

I can get both brand new, and the BioCube is about $100 Less than what I'll pay for the Aquapod.

My question is that I'm looking to do maybe something like Frogspawn, zoa's, mushrooms, maybe a hammerfist or something.

Is the PC lighting on the Aquapod going to be sufficient?
Is the HQI lighting on the Aquapod going to deepfry everything?

Which tank has better mod options?

THOUGHTS??

For the coral list you provided the stock biocube is sufficent and it has the enclosed hood which is more attractive and helps with evaporation. If down the road you want the MH lighting you can buy the 20" sunpod by itself and remove the stock hood.

The hood on the BC29 makes it more difficult to add to the system. I have the AP24 with the Sunpod. I've added a chiller, skimmer, and controller w/ probes without a problem. I'm able to keep keep a bunch of softies and some LPS under 150W MH in this setup without issues.

Junkitu, your tank is gorgeous. I was leaning towards the open top HQI Aquapod and I think you just convinced me its the way to go.

Thanks! If you're interested, you can read more about my setup by clicking on the little red house above or click here to read a more recent article on my tank on Nano-Reef.com.

Thanks for the info everyone...

I opted to go with the BC29. It was on sale at the LFS due to a store closing and it also gives an extra 5 gallons

junkitu...

Your tank looks AWESOME! Do you have any problems with it being so close to a window?

I would be afraid here in NJ mainly due to the winters and crappy windows here

Thanks!

I think my coral really like being near the window because of the natural sunlight. I have 2 heaters and a chiller to manage temp swings.

Enjoy the new tank.
