Bare bottom or Arag. ?

I like the look of substrate, but I like a healthy tank so please help convince me which is better?

I don't see why substrate as long as you keep it clean would make your tank unhealthy...but I'm pretty new at this so what would i know...

Then go with substrate you will be fine if you take good care of your tank. Stay away from large crushed coral and gravel.

I use fine particle size sand that will not trap any detritus and a sand sifting goby that keeps the sand completely white and lots of flow.

My very first tank i used crushed coral and it was a sink for collecting detritus.
