Anyone use "agar" to bind homemade food?

I'm going to be making up a batch of homemade fish food soon and I was looking around for some alternatives to gelatin to bind it into clumps.

I found a natural gelatin product called "agar" that is made from red Gracilaria (e.g. "tang heaven") macroalgae of all things. Apparently, it is sold at health food stores.

Has anybody used this or heard anything one way or another about making homemade fish food with it?

Thanks a lot,
Julian
