that link won't work for me. You also might want to put down the specifics because I think it's against RC rules to link to ebay.

I talked to Scott earlier, I think what he was wanting to know was if the metal halide bulbs on e-bay are any good? I have heard good and bad about them. 20 dollars shipped to your door for a 250w 20k bulb sounds to good to be true. Has anyone had experience or heard anything about these bulbs? I know " you get what you pay for" but even if you have to replace these bulbs more often it still seems cheaper than buying a 60-100 dollar bulb. I have all T-5's on my tank so im metal halide ignorant, sorry!

It seems like I've seen comments about these before. I'm sorry I don't know about them either. But, you might try looking in the vendor feedback forum or doing a search for the seller's name here on RC.

The link never worked for me, so I don't know what the auction is, but here is a link to google search RC if you can't use the search function...

I have a couple of those bulbs on my refuge, they are the 10k's are they are very very yellow, but hey they work for what i need them to.

I would not put them over my display though, the light is just too ugly

Scott is wanting a 20k bulb so I wouldnt think yellow would be a problem. We were just curious as if they were decent bulbs and how long they last compared to conventional metal halide bulbs. Thanks Stephanie, i'll look and see what I can find with your link.

I've used them before. They don't last as long as the more expensive bulbs. I've also had them break easily. Scott, normally you would be better off to bite the bullet and buy the better bulbs, but given your present situation the cheapies will get you through. I would advise that you keep a close eye on them however.

Ive got three of them. I got the 15K and I think they are great. A very KRISP WHITE with a little blue to them. And then I add the Actenics to that. But I think for the money they are awsome bulbs. all the pics I posted two weeks ago were under these bulbs.

I ordered a 20k for my viper just as a test. 20 dollars is not that bad of a loss if its not a good bulb. Im thinking about buying a lux meeter and checking the differance in between them and maybe some XM's of ushio's. Im just curiuous if the light has the same intensity as the name brand ones and how long the last. I'll see what i can do to get a lux meter and test my e-bay bulb and then i'll buy a name brand bulb and test it the same.

soonerfan 51 go on e-bay and type in metal halide and you wont miss them, there are hundreds of them.

yeah I seen the club has one, but i live outside of Ardmore. I dont make it to a lot of meetings and dont want to tie it up for a long time plus it would help to know when its time to change bulbs.

Janderson8, how long do the bulbs last you? Average?
