Oops

You guys ever crack a MH bulb? I managed to knock off one of my returns and it sprayed right up into the bulb.

Talk about scary.

Always wear eye, skin, ear protection when working on your reef tank...you never know what might blow up in your face.

I've got 250's over my tank and I don't think you can crack them with water( though I would intentionally try).

Back when I had my light fixture (that i made... always secure it) fall into the tank, the lights were on and they didn't crack.

But i have blown up a 1000w HPS bulb just from touching the bulb with my oily fingers before it came on.

Oh yeah they can crack. I have had 3 single ended bulbs crack from water splashing on them , 2- 175's and a 250. Obviously double ended wouldnt but single ended can be easily crack just like cracking a glass heater.

It cracked all over, it did not shatter so yes water can crack them very easy when they are hot.
