What makes you all think this skimmer will be so great? I was just about to buy a deltec turbo 1060 for my 250g tank, but this the buzz about this skimmer has made me hold off and check into the Xtreme. Is it going to be a skimmer that will keep a moderately stocked 250g sps tank well skimmed?

Just basing it off the parts involved, and the basic size and design...

Two sicce pumps will pull alot of air, it's a large body, good sized neck on it, a bubble plate, etc... Whats not to like ??

I agree with Jayson not being able to put out pictures... no need to get him in trouble with RC...

I was hoping to just see a cup of the nasty gunk he's been pulling out with it.

I think people are putting so much faith into the xtreme because the octos NW performed so well against the competion "EURO REEF and ASM" at only a fraction of the cost

The Xtreme with the Sicce pumps is not an Octopus brand skimmer...but good point, the Octo's do really put the big mfr's in their place price wise. Notice that since the release and acclaim of the octopus skimmers, that ER has redesigned their single pass line and dropped their prices. The ER's are still not price competitive, but they are assembled in the USA.

Have any of you heard ANYTHING from Marine Solutions? I've been trying to change my order from the 250 to the 200 for a couple of days now. I've called and left a message, I sent an email and also sent something via the contact form on their site.

I haven't heard a thing back, and my online order still shows that I'm getting a 250.

Unfortunately this isn't exactly giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling....

I would say just keep trying (to an extent, no need to bug them non-stop_).... They might be a smaller shop that is closed for the week between Christmas and New Years. I know alot of shops that do this personally, so it wouldn't suprise me if they did also.

The skimmers havent even made it there from SWC yet, so it's not like theyre on their way to you and they just didnt want to change the order....

I thought maybe they were closed this week too. I guess if they WERE closed, you'd think they'd say that on their voicemail or set up an auto-responder email saying that - especially considering the number of people waiting for these skimmers to come in.

I know it's not on the way to me - just trying to be proactive and save myself (and them) the hassle of having to ship back the 250 for the 200.

OT - are those African Greys? Very cool birds! Almost bought one a few years ago.

Definitely - they'll be in my build thread (see my sig)

If it comes Saturday, I won't be home until sometime that night. So I won't have them posted until late Sat or maybe Sun.

The model has changed.....

My order was an Xtreme 250.... Now it is officially the MSX250.

It got ordered to my work, so I dont know when my arrival date is going to be.... I should know tomorrow when I can check my work email...

The footprints are now on the marinesolutions website also.... 16" X 16".... Gonna be a big one.

Theyre also now up to full price.....

It's gonna be interesting to see real-life pics of the 250. The "old" pic on the Marine Solutions site only has 1 pump so that footprint isn't square. It's a 10" skimmer - I want to know where that extra 6" comes from ... that extra 6" that made the 250 too big for my sump. (and also saved me $150 by making me do a 200 instead)
