Tank update...Just a few pics
Hey everyone, here are just a few pics of the work that's been done on my tank since I last posted......Many thanks to Fish Planet for the donation of the aquapod/sunpod for the Christmas party. I'm using the sunpod as my frag light and as you can see, it looks sweet.
Thanks also to Keith Grandt for the sump and the fan tray. The pictures definitely don't do his work justice. The fan tray is so beautiful, even my wife said that it was pretty . Thanks also to Steve (funman1) for wiring up the house with a 20amp GFCI. I also built a ghetto box for my American DJ power strips. If moisture becomes a problem, I'll have some sort of plastic cover made for the front of the box and use dessicant inside the box. Next week I'll plumb it up and fill it. Can't wait. Thanks for looking, Mike Last edited by Mikey Donuts; 01/02/2008 at 04:03 PM. |

Looking nice. How easy is it to get to the skimmer cup? Ilike the fans to cool the sump. That is always a cool mod.

Thanks Mark, I just added another pic so people can see the fans better. The skimmer cup just barely fits between the left door frame and the left hanging wire for the light.
I'm still on the fence between the solaris and a MH fixture though... The fixture plus chiller comes close to the LEDs as far as $$. I'll see how hot the tank runs with no lights and make a decision from there. If I'll need a chiller regardless, I'll just go with MH. |

sump looks awesome. Hey, Mike, since you are using the hanging kit for the sunpod, would you sell me the legs?

looking good!
how are you accessing the plugs behind the american dj's? i like that and am getting tired of seeing folks with cool ideas; i'm never going to get my tank done |

Thanks fellas....Nearly DONE!! This tank seems to be taking forever to finish.
Getting behind the plugs is somewhat of a pain. I haven't screwed them into the box so they're just sitting in there which helps with access. I left space behind them for DC-8s, extra wires, etc.... There is also a large opening on the left side of the box for additional access if I need it. I have two DJs connected to the GFCI and one to a regular outlet. Hopefully once I've got everything plugged in, I won't need to access anything for a while. |

that's cool.
i built a electrical shelf in the top (underneath) of my stand. has one american dj centered in the front. the whole shelf is on a piano hinge and drops down to access the DC8s. also have a couple 120mm fans blowing in to prevent condensation and keep things cool. |
