Might not be a bad idea to wait until after you get your rock/substrate (if you are planning on using any) in the tank. Otherwise you'll just displace a WHOLE LOT out of the tank that will go into the toilet.

Also, it might not be a bad idea to mix the RO/DI and salt first

I was in there a few days ago and they had just received a HUGE shipment of rock. All of their rock bins were overflowing with rock, and there were some great looking pieces.

yea i know ill be wasting some water doing it this way. but i dont have big bins yet to do my water filling mixing in. if i did i would of filled the bin and mixed the salt in then pumped it into the tank.

I think it's like $15 for a 15lbs bag of the dry stuff, iirc.

I'm also in need of hitting up a not-so LFS for some rock and sand. Well, pretty much everything else as well. Who knows, we might just pass each other.

I guess the downside is that there are very few places in the west side of town to go. *sigh* I guess a 30 mile road trip is in order.

I feel your pain on the no fish stores on the westside worth a... 30 miles though from Surprise to AZSeabottom, more like 50 or close to it. Mapquest says 41.23 for me, from 83rd and Deervalley to 4909 East Chandler Blvd, so again I feel your pain!

haha Ya I got a lot to drive to get there also...makes me think sometimes the $$$ for gas makes it not worth it but us west sides have little to no options...some of us need to get together and open a great west side store!

He still hasn't quite gotten everything set up I think. Add to that the fact that it's a very tiny place, and you can see why. I'm hoping that it starts all coming together in the next few months.

Chiahead - So true about the drive! I live in Surprise and work just off the 60 and 10 interchange... blah... long drive.

I'm already hyping myself up for a trip tomorrow to the LFS. I need some LR and sand. I'm going to bring the wife since she is picky about everything. She'll be able to help pick out some really nice rocks for the small tank we're setting up.

Well, I have thought of it as well to be honest. I just don't feel the market is strong enough to support a store front within the west valley. I have a brother-in-law who is currently running a storefront in Cali who is doing alright. I can only wish him success, but I'm really feeling that its only going to keep him afloat and not produce any amount of wealth.

So, you might want to save the money... and do group buys!

Just from the post of lets start a west side group meet maybe the west side is growing to support some sort of store or if anyone has a large enough home an out of house store to get it going. I wish I had the money to invest with someone but we dont otherwise your right it just is a long drive to any of the stores in town at least that we have seen being new here in town. We live in Peoria at Northern Ave and 101 area. Well it is a nice thought thou isnt it to not have to drive that distance to go to a nice reef store.
