Eheim 1262 Return pump Q's
ok - so I am thinking that my single Eheim 1262 is not enough power for the return on my 150 :-)
Is there any reason that I can not run two of them inline with each other to produce more flow and turnover within the tank? -=E=-

Do you have 2 returns on that 150? if so why not run 2 pumps, one to each return? I run a 1262 on a 40 gallon tank and its not enough.

Escobal recommends plumbing in parallel rather than in series. However, you can run pumps in series. If your first pump generates X psi and you feed it into a second pump that generates Y psi, the result is X + Y psi.
If you do not wish to generate more pressure (which we generally do not require for our tanks), then you can run the pumps in parallel and it will generate 2X flow without increasing pressure. You can plumb them either with or without common inputs/outputs. If you do use common in/outlets, you need to ensure the pipe size is equal to 2X the area of the single intake/outlet required. |
