Ecosystem Aquarium ECOMOD Maxi-Jet Pump Modification Kit

tbone28...you might look at this also. I've heard this mod is very good from a local guy and that the prop on this one doesn't tend to break as it does on some others.:

ECOMOD

It's worth it. Even Dahn has bought at least one of those.

J you know that mod is nice.I was going to get it.I ordered some korollia #4(2 of them) I will use them along with my tunze wave box.I have to wait and see.I have about 6 of those mj 1200 but I never bought the mods for them.Korillas are bulky but I wanted to try them.If I don't like them they will go in my sump.I wanted something that doesn't use to much juice.

A properly modded MJ 1200 really does kick but. I like the Koralias too, especially for my grow out tank since they are so easy to adjust and the flow is nice and wide. Oddy enough, I own all these damn pumps, and I just ordered a replacement Octopus 2000 for my grow-out tank skimmer.

The damn thing seized so bad that neither Sherman nor I could physically remove the friggin' NW impeller assembly. The damn thing won't budge. I have not been happy with that pump as it seems any time it loses power, it takes an act of BAAL to get the thing re-started. It does provide nice foam though with the Sherman mod. So off to ebay I went!

I also ordered in all the parts for my new laboratory inspired bubble counter. You guys are going to crap when you see it. It will be at least a week before I can get it built, and right now I am running without one. How's that for brass nuts?

Speaking of bubble counters...how'd the glycerin work out?

It worked out very well except it alerted me to the fact that my fine German bubble counter was actually leaking. It kept oozing out so of course, I fixed it by taking it apart and using teflon tape.

The end result? Well, you guessed it my dear reefer friend, I used too much and cracked the cap. Then I tried to repair it with ABS glue, but it wouldn't hold well enough. So once again, I have fixed something beyond repair.

The fact is, with the controller, I don't really need a bubble counter, so I am running without it until I build my Ultimate Bubble Counter. It will make all other bubble counters weep with shame.

As an aside, I did receive an agreement from Eco-Tech today. I cannot discuss its contents and it will be reviewed by my attorney at Milberg Weiss over the weekend. Once it has been vetted, I am sure this whole mess will be behind us.

Wish me luck!

Milberg Weiss? I don't think luck has a place there but I wish you well nonetheless and hope you can move on soon to bigger and better things.

Also, that Feder fight isn't scheduled until New Years Eve. We will have to catch it some other time. I'll keep it recorded for sure!

Oh yeah, my ears, STILL ringing!

I think I may have found what is causing the HA problem in my sump/frag tank:

"I assume you might be using Styrene plastic based eggcrate (The most usually sold by home harware stores). Styrene releases chemicals that promote algae growth. Take that eggcrate out and replace it with Acrylic based eggcrate or make your frag supports with different material (like acrylic)."

Here's the whole thread, it's mentioned around page 12:

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...5&pagenumber=1

Now to find some acrylic eggcrate locally without having to get a whole case as in the thread. Any ideas?

Jon,

On your maxiblower, how did you cut the pvc pipe right across the middle so it would fit inside the mod?

I just used my table saw. set the blade to about 1/4" to notch it. and I nearly cut my handoff. might be better results if you have about six beers and use a dremel with a cut-off blade. That's how I am going to do my next one.

I'm using one of the ecomods and the fins inside the mod seem very thin. Did you glue the pipe in place as it seems the curf of the blade would cut too wide for the pipe to stick to the mod?

that I don't know. I don't have any of those mods. I am using the real deal, D. Nguyen mod man.

Acrylic eggcrate? never heard of it. You know I am not having algal problems. in fact, you would be hard pressed to find any nuisance algae in my system at all except for the valonia in my fuge.

Hey Sherman...ears ringing? Seriously, you know that's because of that wicked sound system you put in your car. You can't blame that on 60 seconds in my house dammit!

I think it was from the bass in my car and then the mids and highs in your house. Oh, and that strange "test" cd you have. Did you get my message about the Fedor fight? It's not until the 31st.

Jon,

How long is the pipe attached to the mj mod for your blower?

How deep is your tank...36"?
