Florida Live Rock (Great Stuff)

I wanted to comment on the 200 lbs of live rock I recieved from Florida Live Rock.. I am talking about "Prime Choice" rock and no rubble to top it off.

The rock was completely covered with great "stuff".

I would definitely buy from them again!

I purchased from Florida Live Rock also, previously Gulf View Live Rock. As I live about 30 minutes or so away, he invited me to come pick up my rock, and I was able to see his setup, including the boat he goes out in. Dale does it all himself, and his rock is amazing! It was covered in coralline and filled with life such as tiny corals, crabs, tunicates, sponges, algae and brittle stars, and later I found a full size shrimp in my tank that had been hiding. I can't say enough about this, some of the best live rock I have seen. Having moved here from California, I was previously accustomed to Figi and Tonga, but it was never like this. I would definitely buy again! He also was featured as a supplier to GARF, as in garf grunge, where they discuss their experience visiting Dale. I found that while I was researching which to buy.

I did not think one could harvest rock off the FL waters.

You are correct, but this is aquacultured live rock, and does not damage the reefs here, which I also consider to be a plus!

hondo73 is correct,

The rock is "planted" so to say & is left for various periods of time. The areas they typically plant the rock are previously sandy bottom areas. I can not say the same thing for other types of rock.

This rock & harvesting process is relatively eco friendly.

You can learn more here:

I reviewed this before purchasing from him.
