Ant local stores carry Aquacontroller stuff?
I do not have the time to ship. I am having problems with their circuit extenders and need st get a couple DC4's.

Thanks bro
I switched to regular timers for now. It will probably be better anyway. Then I can trade the extenders in for the DC4's after the holiday. It stinks the extenders will not run 3 400w ballasts. I just realized I need to upgrade the amount of watts on my signature! I will do it now. |

I think you could get 3 400's on the DC4-HD. It is rated for 12 Amps and your load should be about 11.
http://www.neptunesys.com/modules.htm#DC4HD Or are you talking about the expansion sockets? Those are supposed to be able to handle 15 Amps. |

Yea the problem is the expansion sockets are getting all screwed up and turning on and off at random. I suppose it is because of the recent addition of the electronic ballasts.
I am going to try and move them away from the DC8 and see if that helps. The expansion sockets didn't start randomly turning my lights on and off till I added the coralvue ballasts though. |

I wonder why that would happen, it's just a 120vac relay and I would think it would be less susceptible to interference than a outlet directly off of the DC8.
Have you tried a different outlet on the DC8 to see if you have a bad controller port? |

Yup
Actually I have 2 circuit extenders and they both do it. I am starting to think it is Pysical placement though.... |

Hmm. Trying to think of the possible causes.
1. Relay on the extender opens, causing power to stop being delivered. 2. Outlet on the DC8 goes off. 3. The electronic ballast is unhappy and shutting down on it's own even though it is getting power. I don't see how it could be #1. You could test #2 & #3 by putting a power strip on the outlet and plut the extender and a radio or whatever into it to see if they are both affected. |

Canar, I had problems with random timer states and traced it directly to a rj11 cable that was picking up too much noise. If you have some twisted pair lying around, I might recommend trying it and trying placement as you suggest. There is a way to check the signal strength on the neptune controllers. Have you worked through all this yet? If so...I am sorry to be redundant.

I am using Cat6 cable but I really think it is a location issue. I will not have a chance to test my theory till next year.
I think the interference from the electronic ballast is causing the extenders to get confused. My plan is to keep the extenders and the ballasts at least 6-10 feet apart and see if that helps. |

just last week i couldn't figure out why my ballasts where turning on and off randomly and it drove me nuts. i almost went out and bought a new DC8. turns out i was messing with the program and i forgot it connected to the computer. if you don't have the grounded PC cable and you leave it hooked up to your PC it will do that. just trowing it out there just in case.
