Place to get Reef Crystals Locally?

Is there a place to get reef crystals locally or do most get it on-line from places like DF &S when they offer free shipping? I need to buy some badly so I am not sure I can wait to have it shipped.

DF & S charges for shipping. $17 bucks for 6 buckets Can you call that a charge?

Bryan, I just talked to Chris at Aquatic Cental in Ocean. He has them in stock, 5 gallon and 200 gal amounts.

that won't work, even through 2 tall cups of coffee and still feel lazy now.

And to stay on topic, he's not far from burlingame Bryan roughly 20 mins or so.

Thanks Charles. AC is on my way to softball so I will try to swing buy.

My issue wasn't the charge for shipping it was more the timing. I need it now. Mr. Lazy finally got off his butt and got a RODI unit and will be making his own water now.

Guess I will have to figure out other ways of getting exercise that don't involve lugging 5 gallon jugs all over town.

i believe that pet club (not petco) in san mateo has them, and you might try calling fish for you or ultimate aquarium (also in san mateo).

You thought wrong. At least when I moved out of my apartment in the city I didn't have to climb 3 flights of loft stairs (so essentially about 5 flights of normal stairs with 20 gallons of water every week (2 at a time). It is no wonder I am having to have my knee operated on.

It used to be a "well I don't have that big of a tank and have no room for a RODI". Now that I have moved into a house and got a bigger tank I finally decided enough was enough.

AH, ok.. I'm still lugging 2 5 gallon buckets up and down the house since my big brute is in the garage and tank is in the 2nd floor..

haha i was in the same boat, I finally hooked up my RO/DI system up this year and got reefcrystals!

i used to haul up 15 gallons of water every week up my flight of 12 stairs, then down another 12 stairs into the basement. I have massive shoulder muscles now =)

but yeah, ro/di is much better... I can get excercise elsewhere. congratz on that!

I just order my reefcrystals from DF&S with the $10 shipping, it's not bad at all. Plus, UPS lugs it up onto my porch for me!!

Wow, you too Mike. I always thought you too would have had an RO/DI system already.

You may be confused with, "homework, homework, GIVE ME A BREAK" then in a booming voice, "for a little break try Summit Cookiebars"

Double check your Ca and Mg levels on your Reef Crystals.

Mine were low, and I thought it was a problem on my part in testing because I hadn't heard of anybody else with problems.

I asked Ian a while back and he had tested low Mg on his Reef Crystal too.

A few days ago I ran across some posts on the issue in the chemistry forum. So finally I'm seeing other reports.

I've been burning through my test kits, and I'm all out of Salifert Mg, grrr...

Anyway, I have some buckets that I stocked up on in January. I'm testing those right now and they're reading more like IO than RC.

Several months ago, my SPS/LPS had been having problems and I couldn't figure out why except that my alk seemed to be off from time to time. I had gotten too trusting of the RC and hadn't been testing when doing water changes

I have a couple buckets I got last month and will be testing those too.
