Or emerald crab. When I had my emerald crab I noticed scratches like that too. He also turned greyish purple (I assume from eating the coraline).

That may be your culpert. also if you have any crabs they could eat this... But the scratch look? not sure.

Sneak out after the lights go out for an hour or so and shine a flash light in there you may catch the perp this way... But be very quick cause when the light hits him he will be gone.

Ha ha maybe just use the flash on your cam? then you would have a pic of him.?

I'm not sure thats actually coralline, there is a type of protozoan that can look like that. I can't remember for the life of me what it's called...

been searching about it..
could it be an urchin???
a small one that came with a coral?

it has to be something taht either move quickly or there's many of them because the scratchs are all over the tank... and remind you that it's a 7 footer...

It looks like something has been eating it. It looks like either bite or pincher marks. What fish do you have in your tank?

IMO

I wouldn't worry about the coralline algae, it will grow back. Sometimes it dies back or things eat it. It will grow back. If it is a mantis, you will be missing fish, etc not just coralline. Anything else will not harm it that much. Trust me, the more you remove it, the more it will eventually grow back. Keep you Calcium up and a eye on the crabs, and I assure you you will find/see the culprit.
