DIY - 2 Lumenarc 3's over 120

I was looking to get some ideas on a hanging canopy. The tank is in the basement and really all I need is the Lumenarcs (and possibly VHO's) to hang over a 120. I have access above to wood...so I can use that for hooks etc. Any ideas or pics? Thank you

look into the large lumenmax's...they jave a large metal "top bracket" to them and would be simple to hang. Otherwise (or better yet maybe) you could build a metal (aluminum or SS) frame to mount everything to.

I have the older large lumenarc reflectors and they have 2 eyes on the top of them. I just used the eyes to hang them over the tank. Works great. I will see if I can get a pic tomorrow and post it.

I have two of the large luminarcs over my 120 (4'x2'). I bolted them to a frame made from aluminum angle iron I found at Home Depot. I wanted to be able to move them out of the way, so I made a lift out of heavy duty drawer slides. Here's some pics.

Here you can see a piece of 2x4 elevating the light assembly. Without anything there, the reflectors are a few inches above the water. I was going to make a winch mechanism of sorts to raise and lower it, but right now I just pull a rope and wedge a piece of whatever I have at hand between the frames. Seems to work well. I can lift the lights almost 2 feet above the tank.

When I get more time later this month, I will make a canopy that just sites on the top of the tank. Probably pine or something. The top and back of the canopy will be open. It's only purpose is to cover the monster reflectors. I won't attach anything to it. I'm thinking about using magnets to hold the panels in place.

I dont have any good pics of mine, but it's just aluminum riveted together. the lumenarcs sit on angle iron rails and can be slid side to side.

heres another question...I have each pendant wired to a 250 watt ballast. for some reason, it keeps tripping the GFCI. I put black to black, white to white, and the grren I removed the round circular piece and wired that directly to the green on the ballast.
Maybe that is incorrect? Do you have pics of how you wired you lumenarcds? thank soo much!

It is not uncommon for GFCI's to trip with Mh ballasts. I would suggest putting them on non GFCI outlet to you can stop the nuisance tripping.
