well, I cut off the dead stuff. Because the crabs and snails were on it all the time and I didn't want it nipping at the healthy parts so I did what I still can't believe I did, I cut off all the dead stuff. there is now 2 corals that look like there both going to make it. I initially thought the small piece was the healthiest part but after cutting it the larger section really seems to be much happier. i will post pics soon of the 2 sections.

Did you actually cut the skeleton too?
I bought a Closed Green Brain from my LFS that was already injured in the store. I figured I'd try to save it and so far the condition hasn't changed much at all. It's nearly round and approximately 3.5 inches in diameter with a two inch gap of skeleton showing on one side. I started with him high up and he seemed to puff up fine but I didn't see any improvement of torn part, so I put him down in the sand last night. I haven't hand fed anything yet but plan to tonight. Just wondering, if mine deteriorates and I have to cut, do I cut away just dead tissue or also cut away uncovered skeleton? |

danny i think it is recovering.it looks like it is inflating more than before and i see no new necrosis.i think you did good.
connpatd if the bare skelton is advancing daily and the coral is not inflating,i would cut the healthy portion off and make sure it is getting plenty of random flow.pics help if you can post a few. |
