Sheol,
This is Pseudochromis striatus; Striped Dottyback, from Ishigaki Island, southern Ryukyu Islands (35mm). A smaller species and it is active and eats well. The reddish pink dottyback may be described by Senou next year. I only send the specimen to him. |

Dr. Tanaka,
I hate to say this, but.. That is such a cute fish. That somehow doesn't seem appropriate for a Pseudochromis but what can you do? Its eyes don't even have the usual dottyback look. I doubt I'll see one in the states though. Many thanks for the pic! Sincerely, Matthew |

Thinking about adding a Orchid (P. fridmani) to my 29g? Would he be alright with a clown (ocellaris) and a sixline wrasse?

I don;t think the OD and the wrasse would work in a 29. My first OD was in a 26 bow and it brutalized a candy hog, like instantly. The first one in will protect its turf. And that tank is probably too small to remove the wrasse for a bit then introduce them at the same time.

I second Bax. I'd not add the wrasse if it were me. Sixlines can be quite territorial. And in a tank that small, even a peaceful (relatively) Orchid Dotty will have issues. A damsel & a P. fridmani might work..

...And of course, to Dottybacks Wrasses are egg predators, thus mortal enemies.
Matthew Bit slow, so *BUMP* |
