fleas, dogs, fish tanks

ok i have a dog and he recently was blessed with fleas. i treated him but he still seems to have a few every now and then. its also winter here and there is actualy snow on the ground. i didn't think that it was possible for a dog to get fleas in winter. the reason i'm posting this is to see if any of you know how to get them out of my house. i don't think i can bomb the house with a tank right in the main room of my apartment.this is the only place i figured i could post this
thanks,
kellen

Sprinkle borax around the house. Work it into the carpet and furniture, and especially the dog bed. Do this after you vacuum and don't run the vacuum for a while. If you do need to run the vacuum, just re-powder with borax. It won't kill the fleas but it will prevent eggs from hatching, thus they die out. I do this as a preventative measure. It also nicely takes odors out of carpet.

You can put sevin dust on your dog, but you'll have to use the less potent of the two and I think that would be sevin 5. Keep it away from his eyes, nose and mouth. Oh, and apply it outside. That stuff should NOT be anywhere around your tank. Read the directions for application on pets just in case I forgot anything.

What did you treat him with? I just treated the dog that we got from the pound yesterday with Frontline today. Hopefully they haven't already moved in. All day today, I thought I had fleas. Every little tickle or brush had to be a flea even though I never actually saw one on me.

Double check and make sure your dog has fleas and not some sort of skin condition, itching does not necessarily mean fleas. If he does have fleas, using a product like frontline plus will kill the fleas and eggs. The fleas will need a host to stay alive, which means you or any other animal in the house. Using any of the flea bombs around the tank will surely mess it up. If I had to use a flea product around the tank, a spray would be the safest choice.
