Water Storage Question
Hi everyone,
I have to empty my tank since much to my chagrin, the tank stand isnt level. Can I use a Brute trash can to temporarily store all the water until I get the tank stand level. Are these safe to use for water storage? Just concerned about any chemicals leeching into the water. Do I just need to wash out the new trash can with water or should I use a vinegar/water mixture? Thanks, Gary |

You would only need about a cup of vinegar so I would do that. That trash can will work good. Be sure not to level the tank, just the stand. You dont want to stress the tank itself.

Thanks Steven. I'm going to HD to pick up the Brute and some shims to level the tank stand. What shims would you recommend? Wood, metal, etc? How should I space them? The front and the back of the stand are level. Its the sides that are not level. Thanks again!

What size Mag or Maxijet will I need to pump water from my Brute back into the tank? Maxijet 1200?

A maxijet will pump alright. I use that or a mag 3 for any general pumping needs.
Brute cans work great for storage. I used to use them for salt mixing and storage for a week or two before use. I also used to use one for kalkwasser storage. As long as it's the grey Brute cans they should be food-safe.

Most of the Brutes are food safe. To make sure, on the bottom of the can you should find a NSF mark or just letters NSF. Thats mean this is a food safe container.

I got the composite shims. They have less compression than the wood shims.
